Modern recording tech makes it easy to incorporate flashy effects and elements, but they’re not always right for a song. It’s more important to make sure every sound genuinely supports the track.

ABOUT BPM

Bug Planet Music is composer/producer Doug Vargas.


He’s performed with a wide range Boston-area bands in a range of styles including indie rock, Americana, industrial rock, goth, pop, and ambient/experimental music. In all projects Doug served as a key interface with engineers and producers, insuring sessions ran efficiently and maximized the value of the sessions.


He has composed music for every project he’s worked with and us able to quickly create parts and arrangements in a wide range of styles. Coupled with extensive production experience, he can create custom tracks faster than traditional facilities. More than ever writing and production go hand in hand, and that’s a key focus at BPM — to remain flexible with sounds and arrangements all the way through a song’s development.


BPM music has appeared in videos for Houghton-Mifflin Harcourt, the Hewlett-Packard Foundation, CNET and others. His music projects have also received lots of airplay on college radio in the Boston area.
